America's Most Beautiful Coin
Often called America’s most beautiful coin, the Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle shows Liberty with torch and olive branch and a flying eagle reverse. Available across a wide range of conditions, from About Uncirculated (AU) and BU through Mint State grades MS-62 to MS-66, including the historic one-year 1908 No Motto variety in MS-62 and MS-63.
Commissioned by Theodore Roosevelt and sculpted by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, the Double Eagle’s high-relief Liberty has been called the finest figure ever to grace U.S. coinage. The 1908 No Motto issue — struck for a single year before Congress mandated “In God We Trust” — is among the most historically significant U.S. gold coins available.
